National Weather Service in White Lake Celebrates 20 Years

The National Weather Service office in White Lake will celebrate 20 years Wednesday with an open house.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in White Lake is hosting an open house Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the NWS office located at 9200 White Lake Road.

The open house will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the NWS White Lake office.

"The open house provides an opportunity for the public to meet NWS staff and see examples of NWS benefits in their neighborhood during guided tours," Richard Pollman said in a release from the NWS. "Visitors will be able to learn about weather forecast and warning operations, hydrometeorological measurement and data collection, weather balloon releases, and our partnerships with local, state and federal environmental and emergency service agencies."

"We encourage area residents to take advantage of the opportunity to see how their local National Weather Service office contributes to public safety and learn about our efforts to create a ‘Weather-Ready Nation’," said Richard Wagenmaker, Meteorologist-in-Charge of the Detroit forecast office.
