Volunteers Needed for White Lake Tree Lighting

Want to help the community? Volunteer your time and help organize the annual White Lake Tree Lighting event Dec. 5.

Oakland County Commissioner Jim Runestad (R) said he and his fellow committee members in White Lake need help from the public to organize this year's White Lake Tree Lighting event.

"It's a big event for the community," he said. "The number of residents who attend grows each year, and we had more than 2,000 people come last year. We need the public's help to keep the event going."

Runestad said he needs people with graphic design skills, people to sell sponsorships to businesses, people to help set up the area in the days leading up to the event and people to help decorate the tree.

"We want to make this the best event and make sure we have the crafts, reindeer, ice sculptures and entertainment that people expect," he said.

The event is Dec. 5 this year at the Village Lakes Plaza. Anyone interested in volunteering their time can contact Runestad at jim.run@comcast.net or 248-802-5500.
