Rebuilding Together Oakland County (RTOC) is accepting applications from low-income homeowners for the 2014 work day. This year, applications are being requested from eligible homeowners in Highland, White Lake Township, Milford, Commerce Township and Walled Lake.

To qualify, applicants must own their homes and be current on mortgage payments and taxes. Applications are due Jan. 31.

The Rebuild Day event helps low-income seniors, military families and others in need by providing free home repairs and maintenance for those who cannot afford or physically complete the work themselves.

Past renovations have included replacing windows, removing trip hazards, installing grab bars in bathrooms, making bathroom modifications for the disabled, upgrading kitchens, painting, yard clean-up and landscaping.

Rebuilding Together Oakland County provides these services to low-income homeowners throughout Oakland County. Areas served include Huron Valley, Pontiac, Oak Park, Royal Oak Twp., Southfield, Farmington, Farmington Hills and the “Lakes Area” of western Oakland County.  Applications are due by the end of January.

For additional information and to request an application, visit rebuildingtogether-oaklandcounty.org or call (248) 432-6551.

Volunteers are also needed to help with these projects.  If you are interested in volunteering, please visit our website to sign up for the April 26, 2013 Oakland County Rebuild Day or the May 5 Southfield Community Rebuild Day.

Since 1994, Rebuilding Together has provided more than $6 million in services and helped more than 800 homeowners throughout Oakland County.
