Miss Oakland County Pageant Applications Open

The annual scholarship pageant will be held July 14 in Farmington Hills.

The Miss America/Miss Oakland County Scholarship Program, a Miss America Organization preliminary pageant, is accepting applications for the 2012 pageant, held July 14 at the in Farmington Hills.

Women ages 17-24 who have either lived or worked full-time in Oakland County for a minimum of six months, or who attend school full-time in Oakland County, may apply.

Last year, the Miss America Organization and its state and local organizations made available more than $45 million in cash and scholarship assistance to pageant contestants. The organization also partners with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Miss Oakland County 2011 is Kelly Oles of Oxford. She was also first runner-up in the 2011 Miss Michigan pageant.

Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund, whose hometown is Farmington Hills, was Miss Oakland County 2006.
