White Lake Library to Hold 4th Annual Mini-Golf Event Sunday

Help the White Lake Township Library raise money for programs while enjoying a game of mini golf with your kids Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at library.

The tees will be set and the greens readied at the for the 4th Annual Mini Golf Event.

The event kicks off Sunday at noon, and for $5 adults and teens can play a full 18 holes, complete with obstacles that are set up throughout the two-story library. Director Larry Ostrowski said the biggest difference this year is that children accompanied by a paying adult will get to golf for free.

"While the Friends (of the library) want to make money for the library, they equally want to offer a fun event for White Lake families at reasonable cost," Ostrowski said.

"As a result of the renovation, this year's course will be entirely different from the 2011 course," Ostrowski said. "Children completing the course will receive a certificate of completion."

In addition to the golfing, Ostrowski said the library will have a silent auction for patrons to bid on, complete with tickets to Red Wing and Piston games as well as gift baskets from various businesses and gift cards to a number of local restaurants. Light refreshments will also be provided.

"Monies from this year's event are targeted for purchasing various items (children's tables, chairs, display units, etc.) that we couldn't purchase during last year's renovation because we ran out of funds," Ostrowski said. "Any remaining funds will be directed toward the End of Summer Reading Party in the park which had more than 300 attendees last summer."

In order to set up for the event, the library will close at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
