White Lake Veteran Receives Help From Rebuilding Together Oakland County, Home Depot

Volunteers built a ramp, replaced a stove and painted for Jim Smith on Sept. 13.

On September 13, 2013, (Rebuilding Together Oakland County) Captain Jim Gilson from Huron Valley, along with 20 Home Depot employee volunteers, built a ramp for veteran Jim Smith of White Lake.  The employees from the White Lake store not only provided the labor to build the ramp but also facilitated a grant from the Home Depot Foundation to cover the cost.

Jim Gilson reported that the Team Home Depot employees worked in three groups to build the ramp and completed the project in record time. “When you have 20 talented Home Depot (HD) employees helping you, it makes for a short work day. It was truly a great day of fellowship.”

The team also painted the kitchen and replaced the older stove in Jim's home so the family could save on utilities. Thank you, Team Home Depot and the Home Depot Foundation for helping to make life a lot easier for a veteran in need.
