Bookfield Creative Minds needs your help!

Bookfield Creative Minds is a group of authors that got together and said they were going to help next generation become authors. They have already been to all the detroit schools to motivate kids to read, write and draw. We are now trying to expand and would like to start locally! 

Bookfield Creative Minds offers an interactive workshop that can be customized for any age and any number of children. The presentation takes participants, step by step, through the creative process of story development. By employing a style that engages students and encourages participation, the group will work together to come up with a concept for a storyline, and in turn learn the basic structure of writing and character building.  By the end of this fun exercise, students will be energized by their own ideas and by the possibilities they generate. Take-home worksheets are provided to reinforce the concepts covered during the presentation.

These workshops, run by published authors and artists, give students a foundation to create their own stories, cartoons, or illustrations. The goal is to inspire imagination, tap into creativity, and to demonstrate how to create a written and/or illustrated publication. We also offered a contest to publish a child every year. This last year we found 14 year old charlie kadodo. He wrote a 300 page novel called "Sacrifice" about reporting in Kabul Afganistan.We hope to see the next young author who wins suceed too!

Bookfield has a fundraising program as well. Were kids can sell local authors books and (meet an author or two) instead of pizza and cookies.
