Talk About Town: What's One Thing You Would Change About White Lake or Highland?

White Lake and Highland are wonderful places to live, and each have their own unique small-town charms. But, would you change anything about them if you could?

Recently CNN Money came out with a list of the best small cities in America to live in. In Michigan, places like West Bloomfield and Troy were named in the top 100, but because of their smaller populations places like White Lake and Highland were overlooked.

White Lake-Highland Patch readers know how great our towns are. After all, we chose to live here, shop here, work here and raise families here.

Both towns have a small-town charm, and unique local businesses. With some of the recent big box store additions to White Lake, you don't need to leave the area to shop.

But despite the parks, shopping and overall charm of both White Lake and Highland, are there things you wish the towns had?

White Lake-Highland Patch wants to know:

If you could change one thing about White Lake or Highland, what would it be and why?

I would love to see a little downtown shopping & entertainment district with a town square type of place for local gatherings and events.

Agreed completely. White Lake tends to permit a great many more uses on residential/commercial properties in the first place (than, say, Milford Twp), so to have to endure poorly enforced land use/appearance rules adds that much more insult to injury.
