Howell Man Dies of Heart Attack While Driving in Highland Township

Police are looking into the resulting car accident Saturday morning on Hickory Ridge Road.

Officers at the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Township Substation are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a 52-year-old Howell man.

According to a police report, the man was driving a 1997 Nissan Sentra northbound on Hickory Ridge Road south of Clyde Road around 10:45 a.m. Saturday when he suffered what appears to be a heart attack.

The vehicle he was driving veered off the road and came to a stop against a soft embankment.

A person driving by discovered the car and started performing CPR on the man. Deputies and paramedics arrived and continued CPR. The man was transported to Huron Valley Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

The man was wearing a seatbelt, according to the police report. Alcohol is not a factor in this crash, he report said.

There were no passengers in the vehicle.
