3-Car Collision Causes Road Closure in White Lake

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Two people were transported to the hospital for minor injuries following an accident on Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake Wednesday. Because of the accident, the road was temporarily shut down for the second time this week.

According to the report filed with the , a car being driven by a 59-year-old White Lake resident was traveling eastbound on Elizabeth Lake Road when it crossed the center line and side-swiped a truck. The truck, driven by an Ortonville man, 45, left the roadway and struck the guardrail along the road, according to police. The car that crossed the line continued across the center line and collided, head on, with the car behind the truck, according to the report. That car was being drive by a 20-year-old from Holly.

Both the 59-year-old driver and the 20-year-old were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The report states the 59-year-old was given a citation for improper lane use.

Items taken from unlocked White Lake cars

A variety of sunglasses, radios and GPS units were taken from at least three cars sometime during the overnight hours between June 27 and June 28, according to police reports.

The cars were all unlocked, according to the report, and on Gale Road, Lynn Road and Camelot. Lt. Don Nankervis said it's likely the cases are related.

There are no suspects at this time and the incidents remain under investigation.

Bleachers disconnected at high school

A set of bleachers was disconnected and moved across the campus of in what police are calling an attempted larceny.

According to the report, a light box near the bleacher's location was disconnected causing the light to go out. While the light was out someone disconnected the bleachers from the stands and attempted to leave with the bleacher.

Nankervis said something must have spooked the person or persons involved because the bleachers were ditched near a wooded area on the school's campus, the report said.

Nankervis said the bleachers are made of aluminum and the person attempting to take the bleachers was likely planning to scrap the metal for money.

The incident remains under investigation.
