Crime Report: White Lake Man Charged After Showing Handgun at Party, Woman Arrested After Rollover Accident

charged a 26-year-old White Lake resident with carrying a concealed weapon and showing a handgun in public after a physical altercation at a party.

White Lake Police Lt. Don Nankervis said Brandon Scott McGowan was arraigned on the charges after he arrived on scene of a party after midnight July 8 at a home on Cuthbert Road and showed his handgun. Nankervis said a physical altercation started with the man’s 22-year-old brother and a female. He said the female’s boyfriend then began a fight with the brother before McGowan arrived and showed his semi-automatic .40-caliber handgun and then left the premises with his brother. Police located the brothers nearby on White Lake Road and they were arrested. Police recovered the gun, which was under the driver’s seat, Nankervis said.

McGowan was held and arraigned on the charges, while his 22-year-brother was charged with disturbing the peace.

Stolen magazines

Police arrested a 32-year-old White Lake resident on retail fraud charges after he was suspected of taking $60 in adult magazines from a gas station on M-59.

Nankervis said gas station employees reported that the man stuffed several magazines in his jacket and left the store without paying for the items. He added that the employee confronted the suspect outside the store, but the suspect ran.

An officer located the suspect and when he ordered him to show his hands, the magazines fell out of his jacket and he was arrested on retail fraud charges and given a ticket to appear in court.

Woman arrested after car crash

White Lake Police arrested a 21-year-old White Lake female on operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol after she flipped her 1994 Ford Escort on Grass Lake road near Hope Road around 11:30 p.m. July 6.

During the interview after the crash, police noticed signed she had been drinking, arrested her and held her at the police department over night.
