Does the White Lake Police Department Have a K-9 Unit?

Two residents ask Police Chief Edward Harris about the use of K-9 officers at the White Lake Police Department.

Does the have a K-9 or tracking dog?

I'm curious about White Lake's K-9 unit β€” how many dogs do you have? How often are they used, and are they only called in when needed, or are they often "on patrol" with their handlers?

Chief Edward Harris: No, we do not have a K-9 dog. Whenever we need one, we call upon the various agencies that do have K-9 dogs. Most are available at no cost and respond to our location within a short period of time. I cannot recall an incident when we were unable to secure a K-9 dog when one was requested. The number of times a K-9 dog has been needed varies. I cannot give you specifics, but I do know that one was requested and used a few weeks ago when we had an in the early morning hours at the gas station at M-59 and Ormond.
