Fire Destroys Highland Family's Home

The family needs donations of clothes and pet items according to a family friend.

A fire Wednesday night destroyed a home on the 200 block of Sutherland in Highland.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Tina Engle, a neighbor of the home's owner, said the family was able to escape the fire without injury along with their cat, dog and bird. However, the home and everything in it was destroyed.

Engle said the family needs the following items:

  • Dog food
  • Cat food
  • Bird food
  • Women's pants, size 8
  • Women's shirts, size large
  • Boy's pants, size 14
  • Girl's clothes, size 6/7
  • Men's shoes, size 7 1/2
  • Girl's shoes, size 11 1/2
  • Blankets
  • Household goods/toiletries

Engle said all items can be dropped off at 250 Sutherland Drive in Highland.
