The Highland Township Board of Trustees recently discovered there were more than 30 firefighters working for the township whose hiring was not officially approved by the board.
The board unanimously approved the hiring of all 31 firefighers, retroactive to their original date of hire.
The firefighters included 11 from Station 1, 11 from Station 2 and nine from Station 3.
