Wanted: More Highland Township Firefighters

The fire department has received a federal grant to recruit more firefighters.

The Highland Township Fire Department is getting $429,000 in federal funding, according to an article in the Observer & Eccentric.

The article states that the money will come from a FEMA Staffing and Fire Emergency Response 4-year grant and will be used to recruit and train new firefighters.

Township Fire Marshal Doug Bourgeois has been given a new role of recruitment and retention coordinator, according to the article. He will visit local high school career days and events to try to attract more people to sign up to be paid on-call firefighters.
