Police respond to suspicious vehicle

Deputies were called to a home on the 300 block of Harvey Lake Road after a homeowner reported receiving a strange call and seeing a strange car in the area.

According to the report, the incidents happened between July 30 and Aug. 1.

The woman told deputies, the report states, that she received a call at her home and that the man calling said he was from a veteran's group. The woman said she told the caller they had just been contacted by her husband's veteran's association two week ago, and she wanted to know why they were calling again. The woman told police that the man on the line then swore and hung up the phone.

The report states that a few days later the woman noticed a man near her property. She asked him to identify himself and he said he was a utility worker. Cops responded and did see an SM&P Utility Resources van in the area. The woman told police she contacted the company and they told her that there shouldn't have been any workers in the area - they had already finished their project there in July, the report states.

An extra patrol was assigned to the area, and the incident remains under investigation.
