Employees with Wee Friends Child Care in Highland reported two break-ins over the span of three days.
According to a report filed with the Oakland County Sheriff's substation in Highland, someone entered the building sometime between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25; and between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26.
The report states the person or persons wrote profanities on the parent sign-in sheet and tied strings to items inside the building. Then, they wrote profanities in the dust on cars parked outside the business.
A teacher with the child care center told police each time it's happened, she and the other employees found the main entrance unlocked.
Deputies noted in the report that it's likely kids in the neighborhood near the business obtained the punch in number needed to unlock the door, and used it to enter the building.
The teacher said the center has also received several prank calls in the week leading up to the break-ins. The teacher told deputies, the report states, that the caller sounded like a younger male.
Additional patrols were placed in the area and the incident remains under investigation.
