Man Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Ex's Purse, Damaging Cars

A 27-year-old Genesee County man was arrested in White Lake after witnesses told police he damaged their cars and stole a purse.

Jason R. Wilchowski was arraigned this week on one count of malicious destruction of property and one count of breaking and entering of a vehicle. Both are misdemeanors. Wilchowski was released on a $1,000 personal bond and was given a no-contact order regarding both victims.

said they were called to a home on the 100 block of Mill Street just after midnight Oct. 4.

Lt. Adam Kline said two vehicles parked at the residence were scratched and damaged. A purse was also taken from one of the vehicles, he said.

According to the report, the owners of the vehicles witnessed Wilchowski damaging the vehicles and confronted him. The report states that Wilchowski then fled on foot, got into his car parked down the street and left the scene.

When police arrived, they were able to track Wilchowski to Huron Valley Hospital, where he worked, and found the stolen purse in his car, the report said. Wilchowski was placed under arrest.

According to the report, Wilchowski told police that the owner of one of the vehicles was his ex-girlfriend and that he didn't want her seeing the owner of the other vehicle.
