Man Arrested for Drunken Driving Following Fight on St. Patrick's Day

were called to the Sunday at 1:45 a.m. after bar employees reported a large fight outside the building.

When police arrived, Lt. Adam Kline said the crowd scattered and no one came forward to report an assault.

After the fight, a 37-year-old man outside the bar engaged in a conversation with an officer. During the conversation, the officer asked the man if planned on driving on, the man, according to the report, told the officer that he would not be driving because he had too much to drink.

Kline said a few minute later the man was seen by police getting into the driver's seat of a vehicle. The man, according to the report, started the car and pulled out of the parking spot. Police stopped the vehicle at that point, the report states, and asked the man to get out of the car.

The man was asked to preform field sobriety test, which, according to the report, he failed. The man initially refused a preliminary breath test, Kline said, and was brought to the station.

At the station the man consented to the preliminary breath test and registered a blood alcohol level of .17, the report states. The legal limit is .08.

Kline said the man was held until he was sober, then released from custody pending an issuance of a warrant for operating while under the influence.
