Man Arrested for Drunken Driving Had Children in Car

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A 35-year-old Pontiac resident was arrested Wednesday after a traffic stop for suspected drunken driving.

White Lake Police Lt. Don Nankervis said the man was pulled over in his 1993 Oldsmobile near Elizabeth and Williams Lake roads for suspected drunken driving.

"He failed our field sobriety test and also registered a .16 BAC," Nankervis said. Drivers with blood-alcohol levels above .08 are considered drunk in Michigan.

The children, ages 12 and 7, were taken to the police station with their father then turned over to a relative.

Beach vandalized

Police are looking for any information related to the destruction of a slide in the Twin Lakes subdivision.

Nankervis said the slide, which sits on the neighborhood's beach, was vandalized on July 14 but not reported to police until Tuesday.

The neighborhood association filed the report with police and said it would cost about $1,000 to replace the slide.

Anyone with information is asked to call 248-698-4400. The incident remains under investigation.
