Man Killed After Being Struck By Vehicle

Two men hit by a car on Williams Lake Road in White Lake.

UPDATED: William Lake Road has been reopened following a fatal accident investigation by the White Lake Police Department.

Several patrol vehicles from White Lake and Waterford were on the scene at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, along with firefighters from the White Lake Fire Department.

According to Lt. Adam Kline the incident occurred at 8:49 p.m. when a 1999 Chevy van struck two pedestrians.

"It appears two males were walking southbound along William Lake Road," Kline said. "Their car had broken down near Hess Hathaway Park."

A 42-year-old man, driving his van, also southbound, on Williams Lake struck the two pedestrians, according to Kline. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time.

Residencies and names of the driver and victims are being withheld pending notification of family members.

Both pedestrians were transported to POH Medical Center in Pontiac. The 42-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the 49-year-old  remains at the hospital, the seriousness of his injuries is not known at this time.
