Man Stabbed in Highland

A Highland man was stabbed in the chest while walking to a local store, according to police.

A man, 40, from Highland Township was stabbed Sept. 21 while walking near the 200 block of Highland Drive in Highland Greens Mobile Home Park, according to police.

A report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office states that the man was taken to the hospital by his girlfriend before police were called. When police questioned the man at the hospital he told deputies that he was walking to a nearby conveniene store when two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts attacked him and demanded money, the report states.

Follow a short scuffle, the man noticed he was bleeding and he returned home, the report states, before heading to the hospital. The man was treated for what appeared to he a one-inch laceration on his chest.

Deputies checked the area where the attack took place, the report states, and questioned residents in the area but were unable to get any additional information.

The incident remains under investigation.
