Man Tasered During Struggle with Police Officer

A man was Tasered during a struggle with a White Lake police officer on Monday at 7:55 p.m. on La Grande Boulevard near Sycamore Drive in .

According to the report, a vehicle was stopped on La Grande for a seat belt violation. The driver was identified by the officer, and the officer recognized the passenger in the car, the report states.

Lt. Adam Kline said the police officer asked for the passenger's name, and the passenger reportedly gave a name the officer knew to be fake.

"The officer asked the passenger to step out of the car at that point," Kline said.

The passenger, according to Kline, had a felony warrant out for his arrest stemming from a probation violation.

When the officer attempted to arrest the man, the report states, the man began to struggle with the officer.

"He was wrestling with the officer and they went down to the ground," Kline said. "Once on the ground, the officer deployed his Taser."

According to the report, after the Taser was deployed the officer was able to arrest the man.

He was cited for giving false information to a police officer and obstruction of justice. He was then turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department for the probation violation.

The driver was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without insurance.

Commercial lawn equipment taken from trailer

A utility trailer parked near the 7000 block of White Lake Road was damaged after an unknown person broken into it and took commercial lawn equipment sometime between Sept. 7 and Sept. 12, police said.

Kline said the lock on the trailer was still intact, but the hasp (fastener) was broken off, resulting in $50 worth of damage to the trailer.

In addition to the broken hasp, a leaf blower valued at $525 and a line trimmer valued at $450 were reported missing by the owner.

Kline said there are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
