Man Uses Counterfeit $100 Bill at White Lake Kroger

White Lake Police are investigating the use of a counterfeit $100 bill at

According to the report, a man in his 20s came in to the store June 14 and purchased $150 in gift cards at the service desk. Lt. Don Nankervis said the man paid for the cards using cash, including the $100 bill.

Later, when store employees were cashing out they noticed the $100 was a fake, the report states.

"It appears the $100 bill was actually a $5 that had been altered," Nankervis said.

The incident remains under investigation.

Items taken at local beaches

On June 15, at the beach at , a clutch purse was reported missing.

The purse's owner, a 18-year-old Waterford resident, told police she had the purse with her towel at the beach. According to the report, she walked away from her belongings to go to the concession area. When she returned, she noticed her purse was missing. The purse contained cash and bank cards.

There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.

On June 16 at Teeple Lake beach in $500 worth of items were taken from an unlocked car.

According to the report, a 25-year-old Waterford woman left her purse in her unlocked car. When she returned to her car a few hours later, the purse and it's contents, including an iPod and phone, were missing.

There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
