Mock Car Crash Set for Tuesday Morning

Some entrances to Lakeland High School will be closed this morning, and emergency sirens will be used during the school's mock car crash event.

The following is from Scott Rolando of Lakeland High School.

Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. we will be hosting our 2012 Mock Car Crash here at . Please note that there will be emergency vehicles on the Lakeland campus that will be traveling towards our crash scene with their lights and sirens going.

The scene will be setup directly in front of the school building. It should run from about 9:15 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.

If you are approaching Lakeland, some entrances will be closed off before, during and after the crash for a slight period of time as to keep people away from the emergency vehicles. We are also expecting a medical flight helicopter to be landing on the grounds in front of Lakeland. This is for our crash scene, and this is also a reason why we need to block off some access to areas around the building.

If you are needing to visit Lakeland between the times of 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. this Tuesday it will be very hard.

The entrance to the Lakeland side of the campus will be blocked off and no entry will be allowed from about 9 a.m. until at least 10:15 a.m. If you need to approach the building we suggest that you use the entrance that enters into the student parking lot or the back entrance by the football field and come around in the circle drive by the tennis courts. If you come in either of those ways, you will not be able to approach the front of the building from 9 a.m. until at least 10:15 a.m.

The pools and fitness entrance area will be used as a staging area for emergency vehicles before, during and after the crash scene. The pools and fitness center and entrance is OPEN for traffic and normal business.

After the crash scene is over all the entrances will reopen as soon as possible. We are sorry for an inconvenience that this may cause, but we need to close off these entrances for the safety of our students, the police and fire personal, and the emergency vehicles that will be on scene.

Thank you for all of your cooperation.
