Pedestrian Accident Shuts Down Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake

A 20-year-old White Lake resident is recovering from non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a car Monday evening.

According to a report filed with the , the woman was walking north on Elizabeth Lake Road near Oxbow Lake Road when she was struck by a 2007 Mercury Marquis.

The driver of the car, a 79-year-old White Lake man, took off from the scene initially, but returned soon after, according to the report.

Lt. Adam Kline said the man told police he thought he hit something but wasn't sure, so he returned to the area to see what was hit, not realizing he hit a person.

The woman was transported to Huron Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police said the report will be sent to the prosecutor's office for review.

Pair of teens arrested for larcenies

A 15-year-old and 16-year-old were arrested during the early morning hours on June 23 after running from police.

According to the report, an attached garage and several cars were broken into between 1 a.m. and 3:40 a.m. on June 23. A homeowner called police, and when the officers responded to the area of Artdale Drive in Lakewood Village they saw two teenage boys walking down the street. The report states that when the teens saw police they took off running. The officers chased after the teens and were able to apprehend both.

The teens were brough to the station where, according to the report, both confessed to taking items from cars on Artdale and Biscayne in Lakewood Village Subdivision, and also from cars at Alpine Estates.

The teens were released to their parents pending the issuance of juvenile petitions from the court.
