Police Blotter: Car Veers Off Road Into Lake and More

An infant was rescued from a sinking car Thursday after the mother lost control of her vehicle and ended up in Pleasant Lake off Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake Township.

According to Lt. Adam Kline, the incident happened near Elizabeth Lake Road and Pleasant Woods at 7:12 p.m., "The car began to sink and the woman couldn't get her child out of the vehicle."

When police arrived an officer was able to rescue the child.

The car was towed from the lake, and Kline said it's likely the driver will be cited for speeding.

Intoxicated minor

A 15-year-old male was cited for retail fraud and a minor in possession after police found him walking in a neighborhood, visibly intoxicated, according to reports.

Chief Edward Harris said the incident happened at 5 p.m. March 5.

"Our officer made the stop near the 9000 block of Steephollow Road," Harris said. "The teen was highly intoxicated and told the officer he had taken the alcohol from Walmart."

According to the report: the teen took the officer to where he had thrown away two bottles of Jim Beam Whiskey. He was brought to the station, processed and cited for retail fraud and being in possession of alcohol while under the legal age.

Auto theft

A car was reported stolen on March 8 from the 2800 block of Haley in White Lake.

"A 1994 Jeep Cherokee was taken from the garage of the home," Harris said. "The owner suspects a friend took the vehicle to Pontiac and traded it for drugs."

The vehicle has not been located and the incident remains under investigation.
