Police Blotter: Medical Emergency, Thefts and Vandalism

Here's a roundup of calls from Friday through Tuesday.

A 20-year-old White Lake resident was rushed to a local hospital after leaving the roadway while driving out of the Pontiac Lake Recreation Area on Sunday at 9:45 p.m.

According to Lt. Don Nankervis, the man suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel.

There was minimal damage to the car, Nankervis said, but a park ranger—who was traveling right in front of the man—said he wasn't breathing when he approached the car.

"When we arrived on the scene we started CPR," Nankervis said. "Fire and EMS then continued CPR and transported the man to the hospital."

As of Tuesday morning, the man was in very critical condition. It's not clear at this point what caused him to go unconscious and stop breathing.

Thefts

There was a series of thefts over the weekend in White Lake.

On Saturday at 5 p.m., a woman left without paying her bill.

According to Nankervis, the woman attempted to pay her $30 bill, but her card was declined. The waitress informed the woman that her card was declined and that she needed to find another way to pay. The waitress then left.

While the waitress was gone, the woman allegedly left the restaurant without paying.

Police were able to locate the woman and ask her about the incident, Nankervis said. The woman is making arrangements to pay the bill.

On Monday, sometime between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m., someone allegedly took a portion of aluminum railing from a home on the 200 block of Greenhill.

The incident remains under investigation.

On Friday, an 8-gigabyte iPod touch was taken from a student at .

Nankervis said the iPod owner told the school resources officer it was taken from the gym while he was in class.

Through the efforts of Lakeland staff and Officer Mike Simsack, the iPod was recovered and the student who allegedly took the device was referred to a youth assistance program.

Vandalism

Police are looking for information related to two incidents of vandalism that occurred on Saturday just after midnight.

In both incidents car windows were shot out with what police believe was a BB gun or airsoft gun.

The cars involved were approximately a mile apart on Tower Road and Melinda Circle.
