Police Blotter: Retail Fraud, Larceny and a Noncompliant Sex Offender Arrest

Here's a roundup of calls from Tuesday through Friday.

A 47-year-old woman was stopped by a loss-prevention officer who said she took items from the store without paying, according to Chief Edward Harris.

The woman was seen entering the store, grabbing a cart and empty bags from a checkout station, according to Harris.

The woman was seen on security tapes concealing items in the bags while walking around the store, Harris said. She then grabbed a few grocery items and paid for those at the register, he said, but she did not attempt to pay for the $86 worth of other items in the bags.

Man accused of failing to register new address for sex offender list

A 37-year-old man was arrested at 6 p.m. Thursday while leaving the Walmart parking lot after an officer said a routine check listed the man as noncompliant with the requirements of the sex offender list, and there was a warrant issued for him, according to Harris.

The man, who is listed as living in Wyandotte, no longer lives in that city and failed to register his new address, he said. He was arrested on the outstanding warrant, Harris said, and also was charged with not complying with the registry.

Harris said the man was taken to Oakland County Jail pending arraignment.
