White Lake Police Chief Edward Harris said the store's surveillance tape from Nov. 24 showed that the woman walked into the store with a reusable bag and a plastic Kohl's bag. She allegedly concealed the plastic bag in the reusable bag and placed a pair of pajamas and slippers into the plastic bag. She then went through the store and picked up a few more items before going to the checkout, Harris said.

At the checkout, the suspect paid for some of the items but left without paying for the pajamas and slippers, he said.

When she returned Saturday, workers at Kohl's recognized her from the video and confronted her. Police responded and arrested the woman, who confessed to stealing the slippers and told police she had a problem with stealing and wanted help.

She was taken to the police station, where officers discovered that she had given them a false name.

The woman was issued a citation on a charge of retail fraud and was released after she posted a $100 bond.

Indecent exposure

Police were called to a home on the 1300 block of Cooley Approach on Wednesday, Nov. 24, after a White Lake resident reported an indecent exposure.

According to police, a man was standing in his backyard when he viewed his neighbor urinating in his own backyard, about 30 yards away.

When the man yelled at the neighbor, asking him what he thought he was doing, the neighbor responded that he was urinating. After he finished, he went back into his home, the report said.

The man called police to report indecent exposure and wanted to press charges.

The incident is under investigation.
