Police Blotter: Serious Accident, Theft and Call to Action

A 56-year-old woman is in stable condition following a serious accident at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, according to .

Lt. Adam Kline said the woman, a librarian at an elementary school in Highland, suffered a medical emergency that caused her to leave the roadway while driving her truck.

"She left Bogie Lake Road near Fox N Hounds Drive, launched over Cedar Island and ended up striking a tree on the other side," Kline said.

The woman, who suffered a head injury, was initially listed in critical condition. Her status had improved to stable by Friday evening.

Larceny reported

A homeowner filed a report this week about a theft at his home sometime between April 4 and April 7.

Kline said the incident took place at a residence on the 7000 block of Capri Drive in White Lake.

A white fire safe containing personal documents, a .44-caliber revolver, three watches and a gold and diamond tennis bracelet was taken, police said.

Kline said there are no suspects at this time but that the incident remains under investigation.

Call to action

Chief Edward Harris is looking for help from the public to form the department's mission statement.

According to Harris, one of his goals as chief of police has been to revamp the department's policies and procedures and to create a mission statement for the department.

"We want input (from) residents on what they think our mission statement should be," Harris said. "We will then take everything we receive and use it to help us form our mission statement."
