Police Blotter: Stolen Items Found After Strange Twist, Synthetic Narcotics Possession

Police reports from March 22 - March 25.

A 19-year-old male will be arraigned on felony charges of larceny from a vehicle after the man's female cousin stumbled upon a digital camera in their home's foyer room table drawer that contained pictures of a friend of hers, according to White Lake Lieutenant Adam Kline.

According to police, after finding the camera the girl called the friend she saw in the pictures and was told that the camera, along with other items, were reportedly stolen from him the day before.

Kline said the victim alleges that sometime after 8:30 p.m. on March 22 items were stolen from two unlocked vehicles on the 500 block of Jamestown Court. A digital camera and laptop computer were reportedly taken from one car, and an iPod and set of keys were said to be taken from another.

Kline said: Police were called to the house where the camera was found and received permission from the homeowner to search the residence. Police recovered the digital camera, keys, and iPod that had been reported stolen, as well as a backpack and prescription bottle that belonged to the victim.

Police arrested the homeowner's 19-year-old son on narcotic paraphernalia possession charges after finding a marijuana pipe in his room.

When questioned about the stolen property, Kline said, the suspect initially denied stealing anything and claimed to have found the backpack hanging in a tree with all the items inside. Police investigated the snow around said tree and found no footprints to corroborate the story.

According to police, on March 25 the suspect admitted to taking all the items in question. He will be arraigned on 1 - 2 felony counts of larceny from a vehicle, with additional charges pending.

"Any electronic devices stolen from a vehicle constitutes a felony,"  Kline said.

The laptop computer still has not been recovered.

The police do not suspect anyone else from the same household to be involved in this crime.

Synthetic Narcotics

A 28-year-old male is awaiting arraignment on charges of synthetic narcotic possession, according to police.

During a routine traffic stop just after midnight on March 25, police officials said they noticed a white bottle thrown from the passenger window of the stopping car.

When police approached the vehicle the driver, who was alone, denied having had possession of the recovered bottle and its contents. Later, the suspect admitted to purchasing the pills in Pontiac without a prescription.

The driver was arrested and charged with driving on a restricted license. And an inventory search of his vehicle uncovered several other different colored pills in an orange bottle, police said.

Kline said officers used a prescription pill reference manual to identify some of the pills as Darvocet (a narcotic pain reliever withdrawn from the U.S market in November 2010), and Xanax (a benzodiazepine used to treat anxiety disorders).

"The pills recovered will be sent to the lab for the official word on their identity,"  Kline said.

According to police, there was no indication that the suspect had any intent to sell the drugs.
