According to the report, the van continued down Elizabeth Lake Road running through red lights. The officer followed the car until Airport Road when he determined it to be too dangerous to continue.

White Lake Police Chief Ed Harris said there are several things residents can do to keep their mail secure.

"We've had a number of reports in the area," Harris said. "It's important that residents don't put anything of value in their mailboxes. If you have bill payments, take them directly to the post office."

Harris said residents should also check their bank accounts and credit statements often, every day if possible, to make sure there is no unusual activity.
