A neighbor in called police Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. after watching a two-year-old sit alone on a porch for nearly 20 minutes, a report filed with the states.

According to the report, the neighbor kept an eye on the child while watching to see if the parent was in the area. After 20 minutes, he called police.

The report states the officer pounded on the home's door for a few minutes, but received no answer. When the officer turned the knob, he found the door was unlocked.

Nankervis said the officer then entered the home because it was possible the child's parent was in distress. Inside, he found a 15-year-old girl -- later identified as the child's babysitter -- asleep on the couch.

Teen interrupts suspected burglar

A 17-year-old boy stopped a home invasion in progress on Ride Road, Aug. 1 at 10 p.m., according to White Lake police.

According to the report, the teen and a friend were in the home's basement watching a movie when they heard the teen's dog begin to bark upstairs. The teen told police he went to the first floor of the home and found a back door open. When police arrived they conducted a search of the area but couldn't find the person the teen described. The room the teen said the person was in looked like it had been rummaged through, but no items were missing, the report states.
