The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A 23-year-old White Lake man has been arrested in connection with several larcenies from autos in the White Lake area.

According to a report filed with the White Lake police department, the man was arrested Feb. 1 at 3 a.m. after officers with the police department witnessed the man going through vehicles in Village Acres, Colony Heights and Heritage Hills.

"We had a suspect and through good police work were able to make an arrest," Lt. Adam Kline said.

The report states that officers followed footprints in the snow that led from one car to the next, approximately 25 total, and found the man with a large black sack walking in the street.

The sack contained a number of items including a wallet, cowboy boots, numerous GPS units and other electronic items, the report states.

The man was arrested and taken to the station. During questioning he told police that he had been car hopping in the neighborhoods for the last four weeks and selling the items he took at local flea markets, according to the report.

Kline said officers also asked the man about the recently taken pistol from an unlocked vehicle, and, the report states, the man said he had taken it and sold it to a man for $175.

The man also told police, the report states, that he had a number of items still at his parents home in Village Acres where he lives.

The man is expected to be arraigned on a variety of larceny charges Saturday, Kline said.

Police are still in the process of collecting the items that were taken and identifying owners.

The incident remains under investigation.
