Police: Driver Won’t Be Charged in ‘Unfortunate Accident’ that Injured White Lake Teen

Driver called 911 and was cleared of any wrongdoing in accident.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident that critically injured a 14-year-old White Lake teen in mid-December won’t be charged, police said.

“It was an unfortunate accident,” said Lt. Daniel T. Keller of the White Lake Township Police Department’s Patrol Division.

Keller said Dillon Bond, a White Lake Middle School student, crossed the busy thoroughfare about 8:17 p.m. on Dec. 13 as was struck by the front quarter-panel of the driver’s side of an oncoming passenger vehicle.

The drive stopped right away, notified police, and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Keller said.

The speed limit on M-59 between Bogie and Porter is 50 mph.The area is not well-lit and appears the driver and pedestrian did not see one another, Keller said.
