Police Make Arrest in Armed Robbery Case

A 17-year-old Highland resident faces life in prison after police linked him to an armed robbery in White Lake.

Robert Lee Juel was arraigned Friday on one count of armed robbery, a felony. If convicted, Juel could spend up to life in prison. Juel's bond was set at $100,000. He remains in Oakland County Jail, according to Lt. Don Nankervis with the White Lake Police Department.

The incident occurred at the on Ormond at 2 a.m. Aug. 2, Nankervis said.

According to the report: the 31-year-old cashier was in the stockroom when he heard someone enter the store. He walked out of the room and saw a man wearing a scarf over his face and all-black clothing. The man sprayed him in the face with pepper spray, the report indicated.

Nankervis said the cashier ran from the building and was incapacitated by the pepper spray. While he was outside, the man inside allegedly took an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and other items from behind the counter, then ran.

"Several minutes later, two customers came by and found the cashier, they called 911," Nankervis said.

Nankervis said police received a tip from the Livingston County Sheriff's Department that a person in one of their cases had information.

The information was substantial enough for police to make an arrest and obtain a search warrant for the home of the 17-year-old.

Nankervis said evidence related to the armed robbery was gathered at the home, and following an interview with the suspect. charges were filed.

A court date for Juel has been set for later this month.
