Police Seek Information about Home Invasion on Pontiac Lake Road

are looking for any information related to a home invasion Saturday on the 9000 block of Pontiac Lake Road.

The incident occurred sometime between 12:20-1 p.m. and involved a mid-2000s, extended-cab red Ford Ranger.

Lt. Don Nankervis said the vehicle was seen in the driveway of the home where several items, including several long guns, were taken.

"The neighbor had surveillance cameras, and we were able to catch the vehicle on tape. Another neighbor also saw the vehicle in the driveway," Nankervis said.

According to the report, the house was ransacked, and after items were loaded into the truck, the truck backed out of the driveway and drove, in reverse, down the eastbound lane of Pontiac Lake.

"We know there were two cars that passed by the truck as it was driving backwards down the road," Nankervis said. "We are hoping those drivers might have seen something that can help us."

Woman's purse stolen from car

A woman had her purse taken from her car in the parking lot at while she worked out there Sunday.

According to Lt. Adam Kline, the woman told police the purse was hidden under a blanket on the front passenger seat of her locked Mercedes-Benz.

Someone broke the passenger window of the car and took the woman's Coach purse, which contained credit cards, prescription drugs and other valuable items.

The incident remains under investigation.

Driver arrested after search reveals marijuana, scale

A traffic stop at 2:24 a.m. Saturday revealed a large amount of marijuana in a vehicle near the intersection of Union Lake and Cooley Lake Roads.

According to the police report, the vehicle was stopped for a nonoperating license plate light. While the officer was questioning the driver, he noted that the driver was shaky and seemed nervous, the report said.

Kline said the driver consented to a search of his vehicle, and the driver and three passengers stepped out of the car. According to the report, the driver told the officer prior to the search that he had a small amount of marijuana in the glove box.

When the officer searched the vehicle, he found a backpack with drug paraphernalia that belonged to one of the passengers, according to the report, and a total of 22 grams of marijuana in the glove box.

There were also several plastic bags and a small black scale in the car, Kline said.

One passenger was ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested, then released, pending the issuance of a warrant for possession of marijuana with intent to sell.
