Police Seeking Information on Area ATM Fraud

The Oakland County Sheriff's Department is warning residents about an ATM fraud happening at area banks and credit unions.

The following is information from the Oakland County Sheriff's Department press release.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance from the public with the identification of possible suspects involved in Bank/Credit Union ATM Fraud.

  • First case reported on 6/28/12
  • Crimes have been perpetrated by same suspects in Commerce Township, West Bloomfield Township, Livonia, Ferndale, Westland, Novi, Wixom
  • Total loss approximately $500,000.00
  • U.S. Secret Service is working with local agencies on case
  • Looking for identification (names) on the 5 suspects (in the photos) and the vehicle involved – a 2010 Blue Ford Fusion
  • Contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950 or Contact Crime Stoppers at 1 800 Speak Up – reward money is available

White Lake Police Lt. Don Nankervis said residents need to be careful when using drive-up ATM machines.

"They have a device they are connecting to the card reader on the ATMs," Nankervis said. "If the ATM looks different or something seems out of place, do not use it. These devices usually cover up some portion of the display. Be observant."
