Police Warn Residents To Lock Cars While Getting Gas

White Lake Police are asking residents to lock up their cars when they get gas after items were taken from vehicles in two separate incidents this week at area gas stations.

On Aug. 26 a woman was pumping gas at the in White Lake. When she went inside to pay for the gas, she left her purse in the car and left the car unlocked, according to the police report.

While she was inside, police said someone opened the car door, took the purse and drove off.

The incident was caught on video and police are investigating the incident.

On Sept. 1 a woman left her purse in her unlocked vehicle at the on Teggerdine while going inside the gas station to purchase a pop, Lt. Don Nankervis said.

While inside, according to the report, someone entered her vehicle and took her purse.

"The two incidents are very similar in nature," Nankervis said. "You need to always lock your doors, don't not leave them unlocked, especialyl with your purse and other valuable in clear view."
