Purse Recovered in Kroger Parking Lot After Attempted Theft

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

White Lake Police were called to May 22 after witnesses told police two people, a woman and a man, took a purse from a cart in the store and ran.

When police arrived, according to the report, the purse was found in the parking lot of the store. According to the purse's owner, no items were missing.

Lt. Adam Kline said witnesses were able to give a license plate number and car description to police. Police responded to the address the car was registered too. The man at the home told police his 22-year-old daughter had the car.

The report states that the 22-year-old was interviewed. She told police, according to the report, that her 22-year-old boyfriend took the purse. She said when she noticed that he had it, she questioned him about it. As they left the story, she said, he dropped the purse and they left. She told police, Kline said, that she did not know ahead of time that he was going to take the purse.

The incident remains under investigation, and police are working to contact the 22-year-old man.

Assault reported at White Lake Inn

Police were called to the May 24, after an employee told police he was assaulted by a patron.

According to the report, the employee, a 37-year-old, was carrying a bucket of bleach water through the bar when he dropped it and splashed a patron. The report states that the patron, a 47-year-old woman, became angry and struck the man's wrist leaving behind a scratch mark. The man walked away and called police, the report states.

When police arrived a witness told police the man had dropped it deliberately and that the woman merely reacted, the report states. The woman's husband, an attorney, told police his law firm represented a client who sued the White Lake Inn, and that he thinks the water attack was deliberate and in retaliation for the lawsuit, the report states.

The employee told police he slipped and that's why he dropped the bucket, according to the report.

No arrests were made, and the incident remains under investigation.
