Two Teens Arrested Following Destruction of Property in Highland

The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Highland substation. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Two 19-year-old men were arrested June 19 after police say they damaged a number of cars and the front window of a bank in Highland Township.

According to the report filed with Oakland County Sheriff's Highland substation, the two were riding in a vehicle with two women sometime between June 18 and June 19 when they started to argue with the woman.

Det. James Bowie said the woman kicked the men out of the car near Wardlow on M-59. Both men, the report states, were intoxicated.

The report states the two men entered the LaFontaine used car lot and broke into several vehicles causing damage. As the continued down M-59 they came to Chase Bank at the corner of M-59 and Duck Lake. The report states the two threw a rock through the front window, shattering the glass.

A deputy patrolling the area noticed the two, and the damage, at 4 a.m. and brought them in.

Charges against the two, who are from Waterford and Pontiac, are pending. Both are expected to be charged with consumption of alcohol under the age of 21, and malicious destruction of property.

Mailbox taken from home

A mailbox was reported missing from a home on the 2000 block of Bay Vista. According to the report, the owner noticed the mailbox missing a 10 a.m. on June 21. The mailbox was last seen on June 20.

The mailbox, a dark green metal box, was pulled from the wooden post.

The deputy responding to the call searched the surrounding area, but did not see the mailbox.

The incident remains under investigation.

Items taken from two cars

Two cars parked at a home on the 800 block of Milford Road were broken into on June 17.

According to the report, both vehicles were sitting in the home's driveway, and both were locked.

The items taken include change and an MP3 player.

The owners told police they heard their dog bark at 2:30 in the morning, and they looked out the window, but they did not see anything or anyone suspicious.

The incident remains under investigation.
