Vehicle Taken from Szott Dealership During Test Drive

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

White Lake Police are in the process of investigating reports of a stolen car after Szott Chrysler Jeep reported that a man took a 2009 Dodge Journey from its lot out for a test drive on Jan. 2, and did not return the car.

Police Chief Edward Harris said the man came into the dealership and expressed interest in taking a car for a test drive. Employees requested a driver's license before relinquishing the car for a test drive to the man.

According to the police report, the employee was shown a Florida license by the man, which police later discovered to be a fake, and left in the car. The man did not return the car to the dealership.

Items taken from Leo's Coney Island

An unknown person broke into a vehicle parked behind and took a purse on Jan. 5 at 10 a.m.

According to the police report, the debit and credit cards in the purse were used a few hours later at a Mobile Gas Station in Highland, and at Meijer stores in Hartland and Brighton.

Harris said Detective Brad Connell alerted area police agencies to the theft and surveillance tape from one of the Meijer stores showed a man using the cards to purchase items. Police from Northville recognized the man shown in the video and alerted White Lake Police Friday.
