Where Can We Go If There Is A Widespread Emergency or Disaster?

In light of the recent disasters in Japan, one resident wonders if White Lake is prepared.

In light of all that happened in Japan, and the suggestions for families to have a plan on where to go in case of widespread emergency or disaster; where in White Lake is a "safe" place? Also they suggest a meeting place or three in descending  order in case the first and/or second one is compromised.

I ask because Michigan is not immune to an earthquake, tornado or other disasters, man made or natural.

Cheif Edward Harris: Good Question. There are a number of locations that we could use in the event of an emergency. In fact we have used some in the past. The Dublin Community center has been used as a location to distribute water during the blackout and after the large storms a few years ago. We could request the use of any of the schools in White Lake as well as some of the church facilities. The township hall could be pressed into service for such use as well as possibly one or more of our retail businesses.

The location or alternate location would ultimately depend on what area of the township was affected. That would dictate where we would direct and/or transport people.

Under the new supervisors direction we have begun reviewing our emergency management protocol which is based on federal (FEMA) guidelines and this will be one of the areas addressed.
