White Lake Man Arrested After Fleeing Police

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

A 38-year-old White Lake resident was turned in to police by his parents after he fled from at 11 p.m. Sunday, according to reports.

Brian Auten has been arraigned and formally charged with one count of fleeing and eluding police and one count of driving while suspended second offense, police Lt. Adam Kline said.

According to the police report, police attempted to stop Auten while he was driving his blue GMC pickup on Pontiac Lake Road. Kline said an officer checked the licence plate and saw there was a warrant out for Auten's arrest from another jurisdiction. In addition, it was noted that Auten's license was suspended.

The car eventually turned into the parking lot of an empty business, went around the building and exited the parking lot traveling westbound on M-59, the report said.

"Our officer continued the pursuit and followed the truck back into White Lake," Kline said.

The truck then ran a second red light, nearly causing a collision, according to the report, and turned onto Pontiac Lake Road.

Still traveling between 70-80 mph in a 35-mph zone, Kline said the truck turned onto Auten Lane and disappeared behind a pole barn. According to Kline, the officer then lost sight of the vehicle.

The vehicle was found some time later, and a call was placed to the Auten's father after Auten couldn't be located. Auten's parents found Auten and brought him to the station, where he was arrested, Kline said.
