White Lake Resident Concerned About School Zone Signs

Do you have trouble reading the times listed on local school zone signs?

I’m just writing to question the effectiveness and safety of the school speed limit signs along Bogie Lake Road as you approach , and from the north and south. As the signs read right now, there are at least six different time periods with obscure times listed on them, such as 6:49 a.m. – 7:17 a.m. I travel to the schools each morning as a passenger and I try to read them to see if we are in the specified times and I can’t, that is when I am a passenger – NOT a driver. I can’t imagine a driver being able to process what those signs say. I would suggest more rounded times such as 7–9 a.m. and 2–4 p.m. That, I think, drivers could read and process. This would help in safety and compliance. Just a suggestion from someone who is concerned about my children’s safety.

Thank you for your time,

Angela Pomerleau

Chief Edward Harris: Angela, thanks you for your question. I understand your concerns. The signs as well as the times listed are installed and controlled by the road commission. I believe the times that are listed are provided to the road commission by the school district.

I will make an attempt to relay the information in your email to the road commission.
