White Lake Woman Arraigned On Arson Charges

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Kimberly Bieniek, 27, was arraigned Friday on charges of arson of a dwelling follow a fire at her home in Cedarbrook on June 13. If convicted of the felony, Bienieck can expect to serve up to 20 years in jail.

According to the report filed with White Lake Police, police and fire were called to the home by Bienieck. The report states that while she was on the phone with the 911 operator she said she started the fire.

The fire was quickly put of by the fire department. There were no injuries, and no other homes were damaged.

"We are thankful there were no injuries or other damage," Lt. Don Nankervis said. "Mobile home can burn fast, the fire department did a great job getting the fire extinguished."

Arson investigators with the White Lake Fire Department, and Oakland County's Arson Investigation Unit, were able to determine five points of origin throughout the home, and reported that accelerants were used.

The police report states that witnesses also saw Bienieck start the fire.

Bienieck was arrested at the scene, and told police, according to the report, that she started the fire because she felt like it, and that her reasons were complicated.

Her bond was set at $25,000, and she remains in Oakland County Jail. Nankervis said Bienieck has lived at that home for a year-and-a-half, and that police have had prior contact with her.

Dog killed by state of Michigan parole agent

A dog, believed to be a rottweiler mix, was shot and killed June 12 following a confrontation with a parole agent.

According to the police report, two Michigan Department of Corrections parole agents were instigating a possible parole violation at a residence on Pontiac Lake Road.

The report states that when the agents got out of their car, a dog ran at them in an aggressive manner. One of the agents pulled out their gun and shot the dog several times, killing it.

Nankervis said the Department of Corrections is conducting an internal investigation into the shooting, "It's always unfortunate when a dog has to be killed."
