Witnesses Help Police Arrest Suspect Breaking Into Local Business

The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

White Lake Police were called to Carlton Hobbies on Cooley Lake Road Dec. 9 at 8 p.m. after employees at a nearby business reported seeing a man break in to the store.

According to the report, employees at a nearby business called police after seeing a man break the front window out at Carlton Hobbies and take two items from inside the store.

The employees watched the man go around the back of the store and enter into a truck before leaving the area, the report states. When police arrived, the witnesses were able to give the officers very detailed descriptions of both the man and the truck.

Later that night, an officer on duty in the area saw a truck matching the description driving in White Lake. The officer initiated a traffic stop and arrested the driver who fit the description of the suspect.

On Monday, police and received a warrant to search the man's apartment in Commerce. While at the apartment, police recovered the missing merchandise - two R/C cars valued at $2,500.

The man, 45-year-old Kevin Michael Mystian, was arraigned Tuesday on charges of breaking and entering, a 10-year felony.

Mystian's bond was set at $15,000. He was lodged at Oakland County Jail.

"We are grateful to the witnesses that took the time to step in and call us," Lt. Don Nankervis said. "And kudos to the Oakland County Sheriff's Department who helped us out."
