Woman Alleges Car Stolen in White Lake by Man from Detroit

A car was reported stolen from a home in White Lake on Monday, according to .

According to the report, the woman and her boyfriend, both White Lake residents, told police they had traveled to Detroit late Sunday to purchase drugs. At the drug house, according to the report, the couple picked up an unknown homeless man and brought him back to their home in White Lake.

Police Lt. Don Nankervis said the woman told police things got heated between her, her boyfriend and the homeless man. The report said the woman left the two and went to bed in her room of the home.

When the woman woke up, police said she saw her car was missing and called police.

Her boyfriend was at the house, but the man from Detroit was gone.

The car was recovered Tuesday on Kensington Road near Interstate 96 in Milford.

The incident remains under investigation, and police warn residents not to bring strangers back to their homes.

Police remind residents to slow down for buses

Police Chief Edward Harris said a woman came into the station Thursday morning to report that people were not stopping for school buses on M-59 when they should.

"We put out extra patrols and on Friday issued a citation for failing to stop," Harris said. "It's important that people remember to stop when the buses have their flashing red lights on. Unless you're driving on a divided highway, you have to stop in both directions."
