Woman Arrested on Driving While Impaired Charge on Black Friday in White Lake

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

received a call at 5 a.m. Friday from a concerned citizen who reported witnessing a severely impaired woman inside get into a car and drive eastbound on M-59.

Police Chief Edward Harris said police found the woman driving a car that fit the description given by the citizen. Harris said the officer followed the car and witnessed it crossing the center line on M-59 and weaving between lanes. The officer pulled the car over near Pontiac Lake Road.

Harris said the woman consented to a preliminary breath test, and registered a 0.0 blood alcohol level, but she did tell police she was on several medications, according to the police report.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of narcotics and was taken to the police station. Harris said the woman took a blood test and was released pending the results of the blood work.

Harris said police are looking for the person responsible for vandalizing the history sign outside the lodge of the located within the .

"It appears that sometime between Nov. 23 and Nov. 25, a person or persons broke off the top of the sign at the lodge that tells the history of the estate," Harris said.

Series of vehicle break-ins reported

A number of vehicles in Lakewood Village subdivision, located off Bogie Lake Road, were broken into Nov. 26-27, Harris said.

According to the report, vehicles on Ellinwood, Capri and Bonita were broken into. Most of the vehicles were left unlocked.

Items taken ranged from a pair of sunglasses to iPods.
